Registered Nurse / Labor And Delivery Department

Job Summary:
The Labor and Delivery (L&D) unit nurse position is located in a healthcare facility within Colorado. This role involves providing specialized care for pregnant women, newborns, and gynecological patients in a rural hospital setting. The nurse will be responsible for triaging, assisting with deliveries, and functioning as a transition nurse, following established guidelines and protocols to ensure quality patient care.

Job Details:

• Location: 1000 Lincoln Street, Fort Morgan, Colorado, 80701
• Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, a minimum of 36 hours per week
• Start Date: 08/24/2026
• Required Qualifications: BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association), Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), 1 year of L&D experience, licensed to submit application
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience following AWHONN guidelines for patient ratios, familiarity with OBIX electronic fetal monitoring system, ability to triage and function as a baby catcher/transition nurse, ability to read tele monitor strips
• Responsibilities:
  • Provide care for pregnant women and newborns, including triage and delivery assistance
  • Assist with C-sections and postpartum care
  • Triage patients and function as a transition nurse
  • Collaborate with on-call OBs and Neonatologists, ensuring timely responses
  • Use EPIC charting system and adhere to hospital protocols
• Schedule & Operational Details:
  • Shift: 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., every other week, with some self-scheduling that may change based on unit needs
  • Weekend requirement: Half of all weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
  • Holiday requirement: Half of winter holidays
  • No float prerequisites, helping hands to med-surg may be required rarely
  • No scrub color or dress code provided by the employer
  • Unit orientation: 3 days of specific unit training
  • Cancellation policy: Up to 4 shifts can be canceled per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for shorter assignments
• Additional Notes:
  • In-house anesthesia available 24/7, with on-call response times of 20 minutes
  • In-house neonatologist available 24/7
  • RT equipment available, but staff capacity may vary
  • Tele monitoring system: OBIX system with RN responsibility to read strips
