Registered Nurse / Emergency Room

Job Summary:
The organization is seeking an Emergency Room (ER) nurse for a facility located in Potsdam, New York. The position involves providing emergency nursing care in a combined adult and pediatric emergency department within a Level III trauma center. The role is designed for a dedicated healthcare professional capable of managing a high-acuity patient population, with a focus on trauma, stroke, and critical care scenarios.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 1900 - 0700 Nights, with a commitment of at least 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid New York state license, minimum of 2 years of experience in emergency nursing, Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
• Preferred Qualifications: Critical care certifications such as Cardiac Vascular and Critical Care Certification (TCAR), and additional skills like crisis prevention (CPI) are advantageous.
• Patient Ratios: Experience managing patient ratios of approximately 1:5.
• Unit Systems: Experience with EPIC electronic health record system, Pyxis medication dispensing system, and effective communication through SBAR is required.
• Additional Information: The candidate will participate in a 24-hour unit orientation and may be required to float between departments. Prior experience in trauma centers, including Level I or Level II trauma experience, is preferred. This position involves managing a variety of complex clinical scenarios, including traumatic injuries, neurological emergencies, and critical care interventions.
