Registered Nurse / Medical Surgical Floor

Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical Floor registered nurse position is located in Wausau, Wisconsin. This role involves working on a fast-paced post-surgical unit with a focus on pre- and post-operative adult and geriatric patient care. The nurse will provide care in a 40-bed inpatient area, maintaining high-quality patient outcomes through effective multitasking and prioritization.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour day/night rotating shifts, 48 hours per week minimum, with OT billable after 48 hours worked in a week
• Required Qualifications: Wisconsin RN License, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, 2+ years of Medical Surgical experience including recent hospital experience, Trauma Level II experience required, prior travel experience required, Epic charting experience, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong multitasking and prioritization skills
• Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor`s Degree in Nursing
• Float: Float to all inpatient units; float rotation may be required
• On Call/Call Back Requirements: Contract eligible for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours, which can be worked in hour increments as needed; unit usually low censused in 4-hour blocks and may request only 4 or 8 hours of work during a shift
• Additional Information: The unit is a 40-bed post surgical care unit serving adult and geriatric patients, averaging 10-15 admissions daily, with occupancy between 90-95% and an average length of stay of 2-3 days (except for joint replacements). RN must be able to adapt to a high patient acuity environment, prioritize effectively, and work as part of a team. The unit requires scrubs of any color and adherence to infection control policies, including mask-wearing during flu season for those who decline vaccination.
