Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Orthopedic Floor Registered Nurse Omaha, NE. This position involves caring for patients on a specialized unit focused on orthopedic and medical surgical cases, including joint replacements, fractures, and other trauma. The role demands compassion, teamwork, and attentiveness to diverse patient needs, with a strong emphasis on hourly rounding and responsiveness.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 48 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse, BLS certification (American Heart Association), minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in medical-surgical or orthopedic settings, location within 50 miles of Omaha, NE, and drivers license.
  • Preferred Qualifications: ACLS certification.
  • Float: Float to other medical-surgical units with MedSurg patients awaiting beds.
  • Additional Information:
    • Unit has 55 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6.
    • Nurses may be required to titrate drips such as Heparin, Lidocaine, and Ketamine, and operate PCA pumps.
    • Charge nurses take assignments; RN staff need to interpret telemetry strips, with tele techs managing monitor interpretation.
    • Orientation includes 2 days specific to the unit.
    • Scrubs are navy blue.
    • Key duties include managing patient admissions/discharges, hourly rounding, and responding to patient needs.
    • Mechanical lifts are available in select rooms.
