Registered Nurse / Emergency Room

Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position available in Omaha, Nebraska. This role involves providing high-acuity care in a Level I Trauma Center with pediatric certification and comprehensive stroke services. The ER team manages trauma, sepsis, chest pain, shortness of breath, strokes, and other critical conditions, requiring experienced nurses capable of working in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours each, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid driver`s license; Certifications including Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC); Minimum of 2 years of ER experience; Ability to work in Nebraska.
• Additional Job Notes: Must adhere to the fingernail policy prohibiting artificial nails. Nurses will take a pass/fail exam during orientation, requiring a 90% passing score; failure leads to termination. The ER handles trauma, sepsis, chest pain, and strokes, among other high-acuity cases. Staffing includes a charge nurse and telemetry/monitor techs. RNs are required to read and interpret their own strips.
• Floating: Will float to the Observation (OBS) unit and Freestanding Creighton ER at least once a week.
• Orientation: One week of onboarding, consisting of two shifts at Bergan and one shift at UC.
• Additional Info: Fast-paced environment with a 50-mile radius rule; candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the organization, including related health systems. RTO requests of 7 days or less are accepted upfront; no additional RTO will be approved during the assignment.
