Registered Nurse / Intensive Care Unit

Job Summary:

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) registered nurse position is based in a medical center environment located in Wichita, Kansas. The role involves providing critical care services within a dedicated coronary care unit that features advanced equipment such as balloon pumps, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), and hypothermia protocols. This position requires a committed professional capable of managing acute patient conditions with efficiency and precision.

Job Details:

• Shift Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 48 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and NIH (National Institutes of Health) certifications; a minimum of 1 year current acute care hospital ICU experience; candidates must have current acute care hospital ICU experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Prior Meditech electronic medical record experience; previous travel experience to large facility ICU units.
• Unit Description: The unit operates with 26 beds, staffed by a team of 15 healthcare professionals, including 13 registered nurses, 1 charge nurse, and 1 patient care technician during each shift. Patient-to-staff ratios are approximately 1:2, and typical procedures include heart catheterizations, balloon pumps, CRRT, hypothermia treatments, cardioversion, central line insertions, and medication drips.
• Additional Information: No reduced scheduling or time-off requests are permitted after acceptance. CAPS may be required upon acceptance of the position.
