Registered Nurse / Progressive Care Unit

Job Summary:
Cardiac Telemetry/Step Down Registered Nurse (RN) in Wausau, Wisconsin. This position involves providing specialized care on a high-volume, fast-paced intermediate cardiac stepdown unit. The role requires strong cardiac experience, the ability to manage complex patients, and adaptability to unit needs during a 13-week contract.

Job Details:

• Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
• Shift Details: Nights, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 48 hours per week.
• Start Date: 08/17/2026
• Certification Requirements: Wisconsin RN License, BLS, ACLSmust pass EKG test within the first week.
• Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of recent cardiac experience (Cardiac Step Down Unit, Intermediate Cardiac, or Cardiac ICU) & 2 years of IMC, Progressive Care Unit, or Telemetry experience.
  • Experience with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro Drips is required.
  • Recent EPIC charting experience (minimum 1 year).
  • Must possess a valid associate degree or certificate; bachelor`s degree preferred.
• Unit Information:
  • 44-bed intermediate cardiac stepdown unit with high patient turnover.
  • Typical patient ratio of 1:4.
  • Care includes post-op CABG, valve surgeries, thoracotomy, vascular procedures, arrhythmias, CHF, post-procedure cath, pacer, defibrillator, ablations, acute chest pain/myocardial infarction, and med/surg overflow such as detox, DKA, COPD exacerbations, respiratory failure, femoral pop bypass.
• Additional Responsibilities:
  • Float to all inpatient units as needed.
  • Every other weekend and holiday work required.
  • Ability to work independently, manage change, and handle a fast-paced environment.
