Job Summary
Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) position in a healthcare facility located in Nebraska. The role involves providing high-quality obstetric, postpartum, and antepartum care on a 12-hour night shift schedule. The RN will work in a designated labor and delivery unit following AWHONN (American Association of Womens Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) guidelines, managing various diagnoses including pregnancy with hypertension and diabetes, and titrating medications such as Pitocin and Mag.

Job Details

• Location: Nebraska, United States
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with a minimum of 48 hours per week. The manager will complete the schedule.
• Required Qualifications: Valid license to submit, BLS (Basic Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications, and a minimum of 3 years of labor and delivery experience.
• Certifications: BLS, NRP, required for clinical competence and safety compliance.
• Department: Labor and Delivery unit caring for obstetrics, postpartum, and antepartum patients, with a patient load of 15 LDRP beds and 15 postpartum beds, following a ratio of 1:3 or 1:1 for laboring patients.
• Patient Population: Obstetrics, postpartum, antepartum, post-surgical GYN, pregnancy complicated by hypertension or diabetes.
• Patient Care: RNs are required to titrate drips such as Pitocin and Mag. The unit adheres to AWHONN guidelines and is designated as Blue Distinction+ for patient care with high patient experience scores.
• Team Structure: Each shift has a charge nurse who may take assignments. RNs are responsible for reading their own electrocardiogram strips and troubleshooting equipment such as Vents, Cpap, BiPap, and High Flow devices.
• Additional Requirements: Candidates must follow a fingernail policy prohibiting artificial nails, and pass a skills exam during orientation with an emphasis on clinical competence. Floating is rare and limited to critical staffing needs only.
• Shift & Orientation: The orientation includes one week of classroom training followed by 2-3 shifts on the floor.
• Other Notes: RTO (Return to Office) requests must be made upfront (7 or fewer days per 13-week contract). Past the initial RTO, additional requests are unlikely to be approved. The facility is located at 2620 West Faibley Avenue, Grand Island, Nebraska.
