Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Step Down Unit in Atlanta, GA. This position involves providing care for post-cardiac surgery patients, including those with left ventricular assist devices (LVADs), in an environment that functions similarly to an intensive care unit but is categorized as an advanced progressive care unit. The role requires adherence to hospital protocols and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Job Details:

- Shift: Days
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week
- Start Date: 08/10/2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Required Qualifications:
- Valid GA or Compact State nursing license
- 18 months of step down or similar specialty experience within the past 3 years
- ACLS certification
- Ability to pass a rhythm identification test (proctored, two attempts; not multiple choice)
- Must have no vent experience required
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with post-CABG cardiac surgery patients, chest tubes, LVADs, and advanced cardiac care
- Additional Information:
- Unit operates like an intensive care unit but is designated as an advanced progressive care unit
- Only Navy Blue scrubs permitted
- Scrubs must be worn within 50 miles radius; local travelers are not accepted
- No float rotation required
- Candidates will be required to complete hospital-specific training courses
