Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery (L&D) Nurse in Seattle, WA. This position involves working in a high-volume, high-acuity labor and delivery department, supporting a busy maternity unit with a focus on high-risk pregnancies. The role requires providing specialized care to mothers and newborns during and after delivery, ensuring safety and adherence to clinical protocols.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 48 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: 3-5 years of recent high-risk obstetric experience, current compact license, valid BLS certification, and certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). Proof of current Nursys profile with at least 2 years of high acuity and high-volume experience is required.
- Preferred Qualifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate certifications.
- Float: Postpartum, Antepartum, and may float to sister facilities supporting Mother/Baby units.
- Special Procedures/Unit Details: High risk and high volume labor and delivery environment, operating with four ORs, focusing on high-risk obstetric cases, and functioning as a Baby Nurse during deliveries. Candidates must be skilled in NB care, including eyes, thighs, assessment, and injections (e.g., Vit K).
- Additional Requirements: Must circulate for C-section, assist with vaginal deliveries, and provide postpartum newborn assessments. Experience with electronic fetal monitoring (EPIC hard stop) and staffing following AWHONN guidelines is highly valued.
- Patient Demographics: Neontal, adolescents, infants, and geriatrics, supporting approximately 15 patient visits daily and 500-600 deliveries per month.
- Orientation: 36 hours of orientation are required.
- Candidates must be able to work every other weekend and holidays as needed, with pre-approved time off on a case-by-case basis.
- Travel and Certification Details: Travel experience not required. Valid state license with a minimum of 3-5 years of high-risk obstetric experience is mandatory. Must include two references covering at least one year within the last three years.
- Additional notes: Candidates may be asked to float between nearby sister facilities and must be willing to do so. All required certifications must be current at the time of submission.
