Job Summary:
Emergency Room Nurse - Location: Utica, New York. This position involves providing specialized emergency care in a busy hospital setting. The role requires effective management of acute patient conditions, including stroke, sepsis, trauma, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure, across diverse patient populations. Candidates must be adaptable to dynamic clinical environments and perform effectively under pressure.
Job Details:
- Position: Emergency Room Nurse
- Shift: Evenings, 12:00 PM 11:00 PM
- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Start Date: 08/31/2026
- Required Qualifications: Active New York state license, two or more years of emergency department experience with some pediatric experience, travel experience, documentation of recent experience, EPIC electronic medical record proficiency, current American Heart Association (AHA) certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS). Valid drivers license with address matching demographics, and RTO documentation at time of submission.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with high-capability charge roles, familiarity with rapid infusor and Arctic Sun equipment.
- Additional Information:
- Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates within 75 miles are also considered.
- Floating will be required.
- Scrub color: Navy Blue.
- Common patient diagnoses include Stroke, Sepsis, Trauma, Myocardial Infarction, Cardiac Arrest, and Respiratory Failure.
- Unit has 64 beds, including 2 Triage, 40 acute care, 6 super track, 2 trauma, 10 clinical decision unit, and 6 psychiatric beds.
- Critical drips and medications include pressors (Levophed, Neo, Epinephrine, Vasopressin, Dobutamine, Dopamine), vasodilators (Cleviprex, Cardene, Nitroglycerin), anti-arrhythmics (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lido), sedation agents (Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl), TNK, Heparin, and Insulin.
