Job Summary:
A registered nurse specializing in medical surgical orthopedics is sought for a facility in Peoria, Illinois. This role involves providing care on an orthopedic unit with a focus on postoperative surgical and trauma patients. The position offers the opportunity to work night shifts in an acute care setting within a division that emphasizes quality patient care.

Job Details:

  • Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Surgical Orthopedic Floor
  • Location: Peoria, Illinois
  • Start Date: 08/17/2026
  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) required
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in medical surgical or postoperative orthopedic care; experience with trauma cases preferable
  • Department Details:
    • Unit has 43 all-private beds
    • Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4-5 on day shifts, 1:5-6 on night shifts
    • Common patient diagnoses include medical surgical cases, postoperative orthopedic patients, and trauma with fractures
    • Staff includes charge nurses and house supervisors available 24/7
    • PCTs assist with patient care at ratios of 1:7-8
    • Telemetry monitors (Phillips) are used hospital-wide, with RNs expected to read their own strips and troubleshoot equipment, including Vents, Cpap, Bipap, High Flow, etc.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Active Illinois license or confirmation of application initiation
    • Last four digits of clinician`s SSN, requested time off, and department-specific onboarding notes
    • Dress code: Any color of scrubs, professional appearance, tattoos and piercings must be covered
    • Orientation: Two days of department-specific training
    • Floating: First to float to other medical-surgical floors, if needed
    • No call or standby requirements
    • Department adheres to a non-billable orientation of 12 hours, with no guaranteed hours during orientation
  • Position Notes:
    • Local rate applies to clinicians with permanent addresses within 50 miles
    • Shift notes: Nights only, with every other weekend requiring Saturday/Sunday day shift and Friday/Saturday night shift coverage
    • Department notes: Wide variety of medical and trauma cases, post-op surgical care, general med-surg experience preferred
