Registered Nurse / Medical Surgical Floor

Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor Registered Nurse (RN) position in Peoria, Illinois. This role involves providing high-quality acute care to general medical patients on a 12-hour night shift. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong teamwork and communication skills, with a minimum of one year of relevant experience. The position offers a comprehensive orientation and requires active Illinois licensure.

Job Details:

• Shift: Nights, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license; BLS (American Heart Association); at least 1 year of experience in medical-surgical nursing; strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with general medical patients; knowledge of telemetry monitoring; familiarity with EPIC charting system.
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts. Every other weekend work; 3 of 6 holidays required throughout the year. Call or standby may be required based on staffing needs; floating may be required following rotation protocols.
• Duties: Care of general medical patients, including telemetry monitoring as needed; collaboration with charge nurses, house supervisors, and patient care techs; adherence to unit protocols and documentation standards.
• Additional Information:
  • Department: Medical Acute Care Unit with 20 beds.
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4/5 day shift, 1:5/6 night shift.
  • PCTs available 24/7 with ratios of 1:6/7 days, 1:10 nights.
  • No ventilator equipment on unit.
  • Telemetry monitoring using Phillips monitors at central station; bedside RNs do not read strips.
  • No scrub color preference; scrubs provided.
  • Orientation includes 3 days of unit/department-specific training.
