Job Summary:
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Nurse Madison, Wisconsin. This position involves providing family-centered care to critically ill children in a state-of-the-art 21-bed pediatric unit. The role requires managing a wide range of medical and surgical pediatric cases, including neurological disorders, cardiac anomalies, organ transplants, and multisystem organ failure, with a focus on high-acuity patient care.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Rotating shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 48 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); Wisconsin registered nurse (RN) license or a compact license; at least two years of recent acute care experience in pediatric or critical care settings; experience with EPIC charting system.
- Preferred Qualifications: Strong pediatric intensive care experience, CVICU experience, high-acuity hospital background, and experience with Level II trauma centers.
- Additional Information: Must pass a telemetry interpretation test prior to start. The unit cares for neonates, adolescents, infants, and pediatric patients, with a daily census of approximately 18. The day-to-day work involves managing ventilated patients, administering complex medications, and providing advanced airway management. The candidate must be willing to float to NICU and general care units as needed.
