Job Summary:
The organization is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a step-down location in an intermediate care unit within a healthcare facility. The position involves working on a high-acuity unit with a focus on patients requiring cardiac monitoring, ventilator support, and post-surgical care. The RN will provide patient care in a fast-paced environment, adhering to unit policies and safety protocols.

Job Details:

  • Position: Registered Nurse (RN) Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU)
  • Location: 2801 Debarr Road, Anchorage, AK 99508
  • Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Shift Time: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Start Date: 08/04/2026
  • Required Qualifications: Valid Alaska Registered Nurse licensure at the time of submission, ACLS certification, BLS certification, NIH-SS certification, and a minimum of 1 year of step-down ICU/IMC/PCU experience and telemetry/cardiac monitoring experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with trach patients requiring continuous BiPap/long-term vent support, titratable drips including dopamine, dobutamine, nitro, cardene, ketamine, heparin, Cardizam, amiodarone, and experience with CIWA assessments and alcohol/drug withdrawal treatment.
  • Patient Ratios: 3:1 patient to nurse ratio
  • Type of Equipment: Bedside monitors, Alaris IV pumps, heated humidity high flow oxygen, BiPap, chest tubes, tracheostomy, kangaroo feeding pumps, gastric tubes, surgical drains
  • Unit Characteristics: 19 beds, 7 RNs per shift, high throughput with rapid responses, ED admissions, and ICU transfers
  • Additional Information: The RN must complete fingerprints during onboarding, possess a valid Alaska RN license, and be adaptable to a busy, team-focused, and fast-paced environment. Standard safety rounds, physical assessments, intake and output documentation every 4 hours, bedside handoff, and regular repositioning/ADLs are mandatory.
  • Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
