Job Summary:
Emergency Room Nurse in South Dakota. This position involves providing acute care in a high-volume emergency setting, with responsibilities including independent functioning in both ER and Med Surg units. The role requires flexibility to float between departments, adherence to facility dress code, and completion of required training.

Job Details:

  • Location: Chamberlain, South Dakota
  • Schedule: Rotating shifts; 12 hours per shift; 36 hours per week; every other weekend and holiday.
  • Required Qualifications: 2 years of RN experience; licensure submissions accepted; BLS (American Heart Association) and ACLS (American Heart Association) certifications required before start; TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred; 6 months of Medical Surgical (MS) and Emergency Room (ER) experience in the past year; NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) preferred and can be completed onsite with approval.
  • Responsibilities include working independently in ER and Med Surg units, performing procedures typical to emergency and medical surgical nursing, utilizing equipment such as Sanford One Charge and Pixis, and following the Sanford Dress Code of navy scrubs without logos.
  • Equipment utilized in the units include computerized charting systems (EPIC) and medication management systems.
  • Certifications required include ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NRP, and TNCC.
  • Schedule details: Every other weekend and holiday; three call shifts within a 13-week contract.
  • Float: Floating between emergency and medical surgical departments.
  • Bed size: 25 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio typically ranging from 3:1 to 4:1 depending on census and acuity.
  • Training: One day each of EPIC computer training, ER, and Med Surg training.
  • Important notes: If the clinician has previously worked for the organization, they must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission. Candidate must badge in and out at the facility.
