Registered Nurse / Intensive Care Unit

Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) registered nurse position is based in Peoria, Illinois. This role involves providing specialized critical care in a dedicated ICU setting, with a focus on managing patients with complex medical conditions. The nurse will work night shifts as part of a rotating schedule, delivering primary care to critically ill patients in a unit with eight beds.

Job Details:

  • Location: Peoria, Illinois
  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week. Shifts include every other weekend and holiday rotation, with potential additional coverage to fill operational needs.
  • Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that application has been initiated, BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association), minimum of 1 year of recent ICU experience, and certifications in BLS and ACLS.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience caring for ventilated patients, titrating vasopressors, managing sedation and pain control drips, including medications such as Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, Versed, Lasix, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levophed, Dopamine, and Cardizem.
  • Unit Notes: Critical care unit with 8 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3, handling diagnoses including respiratory failure, post-surgical recovery, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-CVA, post-trauma, and cardiac conditions.
  • Additional Information: Nurses are responsible for troubleshooting and managing ICU equipment such as vents, Cpap, BiPap, and high-flow devices. Telemetry monitors are wired Phillips systems, centrally monitored in the ICU. The unit has a house supervisor available 24/7, with ICU nurses providing primary care, and hospitalist and intensivist support in-house 24/7 on dayshift. Nurses may float to the Medical-Surgical unit if needed.
  • Charting System: EPIC
  • Other Notes: Classroom orientation and two shifts of hands-on unit orientation with a preceptor are required prior to start.
  • Start Date: 08/03/2026
  • Travel Policy: Local rate applies to clinicians with permanent addresses within 50 miles.
