Mental Health Counselor / Psychiatric Unit

Job Summary:
Psychiatric Unit Specialist position in Seattle, Washington. This role involves working in a fast-paced inpatient behavioral health setting, providing limited scope clinical support including patient rounds, patient observation, and general patient care tasks. Candidates will assist with non-clinical duties and maintain safety and observation protocols within the unit.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: 1 year inpatient mental health or medical hospitalization experience; CNA or NAR Washington state license; BLS certification; First Aid certification; De-escalation certificate (CPI or MOAB); Food Handlers Permit (must obtain prior to start date)
• Preferred Qualifications: Behavioral health experience; general patient care; charting
• Patient Types: Adult behavioral health, 18 years and above, involuntary
• Beds: 70 beds across 2 units (2nd and 3rd floors)
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: Day and evening shifts 1:11-12, night shift 1:17
• Patient to Tech Ratio: Day and evening shifts 1:5; night shift 1:7
• Support Staff: Hospitalist on call, supervisor
• Receptionist Available: Yes
• Floating: 2nd and 3rd Floors
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
• Scrubs: Any color except tan, or business professional
• Notes: Free standing involuntary and treatment facility
• Assignment Start Date: 08/24/2026
