Registered Nurse / Medical Surgical Floor

Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical Floor (MS) profession is seeking a registered nurse for a healthcare facility located in Freeport, Illinois. The role involves working on a busy acute care unit providing care to postoperative and general medical patients across three interchanging units. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, applying clinical skills in patient recovery and medical-surgical nursing.

Job Details:

• Location: Freeport, Illinois
• Shift Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, scheduled most in need, with every other weekend working.
• Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
• Start Date: 08/10/2026
• Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, BLS certification, two or more years of recent postoperative recovery experience, and a minimum of one year of relevant experience preferred.
• Responsibilities: Managing postoperative recovery patients, monitoring patients on telemetry, participating in patient assessments, and executing clinical duties including 12-lead EKGs. Nurse aides are available and may be cross-trained in phlebotomy.
• Additional Information: Orientation consists of two 12-hour shifts: the first meeting with HR and preceptor, followed by a full shift with preceptor, then on own. Nurses may float to ICU or telemetry, but only within scope. The unit utilizes respiratory equipment such as BiPAP, Vapotherm, and High Flow therapy. There is a holiday rotation and call or standby responsibilities for core staff. Scrub color is flexible, with department-specific orientation provided.
