Registered Nurse / Intermediate Care Unit

Job Summary:
The Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) registered nurse position is located in Wausau, Wisconsin. This role involves providing patient care in an observation and step-down setting within a 13-week assignment. The position requires flexibility with rotating shifts, including 12-hour variable shifts, to meet unit needs effectively.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Rotating shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Wisconsin RN license, BLS certification, ACLS certification (ARC or AHA); minimum of 3 years of experience, with at least one travel assignment; experience in charting with EPIC; background in observation units or step-down medical-surgical or telemetry units; ability to read and interpret EKG strips; ability to take an EKG exam during compliance.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience managing conditions such as anemia, cellulitis, COPD, CHF, dehydration, pre-operative, urology, GI, and managing drips including Cardiac Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, and Heparin.
• Unit Information: 8-bed observation unit with 2 Registered Nurses per shift, a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4, managing admission and discharge activities with an average stay of up to 48 hours.
• Additional Information: Candidates should demonstrate a resilient work ethic, adaptability, independence, and a collaborative approach to patient care. The unit requires scrubs in any color. During flu season, vaccination is mandatory, and masks must be worn if declined vaccination. The assignment starts on 07/27/2026, with coverage beginning as soon as possible.
