Registered Nurse / Intensive Care Unit

Job Summary:
The ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nurse position is based in a major medical and neuro-medicine overflow unit. The role involves providing specialized critical care for adult and geriatric patients with complex diagnoses including respiratory failure, ARDS, acute chest pain, arrhythmias, stroke, cardiac arrest, multi-organ failure, and sepsis. The position requires strong cardiac knowledge and the ability to handle high-acuity cases within a busy ICU environment.

Job Details:

• Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
• Position: Registered Nurse (ICU) Intensive Care Unit
• Shift Schedule: Nights, 12 hours shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Start Date: 08/17/2026
• Experience & Qualifications: 0 years of experience required. Certifications include BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, CPI.
• Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Managing and accessing ports
  • Arterial line management
  • Assist with chest tube insertion/removal
  • BiPAP/CPAP management
  • Blood product administration
  • Care of ventilated patients
  • Central line care and management
  • Management of dysrhythmias
  • Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) and dysrhythmias
  • Use of PPE and infection prevention protocols
  • Management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Performing phlebotomy and wound care
  • Operating advanced ventilators and monitoring invasive hemodynamic data
• Float: Will float within service line to ICU units as needed
• Open to accommodating block schedule: No
• Additional information:
  • On-call required: No
  • Pending license accepted: Yes
  • RTO restrictions: No more than 7 days of time off
  • Special procedures/equipment include CRRT/dialysis, ventilators, BIPAP, invasive monitoring, defibrillator, and crash cart
  • The unit has interdisciplinary support including respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, and social services.
  • Staffed beds: 21
  • Patient diagnosis specialties: Respiratory failure/ARDS, cardiac, stroke, multi-organ failure, sepsis.
  • Shift details confirmed as nights, with staffing ratios of 1.5 patients per nurse.
