Job Summary:
Lactation and Delivery Nursing Specialist position located in Kansas City, Missouri. This role involves providing comprehensive care in the Labor and Delivery Department, supporting antepartum, intra-partum, postpartum, and neonatal care. The position includes night shifts, rotating weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities, with a focus on delivering safe and quality care within a community hospital setting.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, with a 13-week duration.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid Missouri nursing license, BLS (Basic Life Support), FHM, NRP certifications, 3 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, community hospital experience preferred. Previous charge nurse experience is preferred, with a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience required.
  • Preferred Qualifications: AWHONN Advanced and Intermediate certifications, experience assisting with high-risk deliveries, and familiarity with Labor and Delivery management.
  • Certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP.
  • Skills: Administration of blood and blood products, IV therapy, amnioinfusion, assisting with vaginal delivery, C-section circulation, neonatal assessments, and postpartum procedures including breastfeeding support, wound care, and postpartum hemorrhage management.
  • On-Call Requirement: Yes, with 2 mandatory shifts every six-week schedule period.
  • Float Requirement: RN may be required to float within scope to meet facility needs across units and departments, including triage, C-section, antepartum, intra-partum, and postpartum.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Coordinating complex deliveries, postpartum and neonatal care, patient education, and responding to emergencies with appropriate protocols.
  • Facility and Patient Details: The facility has 74 beds, serves neonatal, adolescent, and adult patient populations, with an average daily census of 10.
  • Equipment and Charting: Use of Epic electronic charting system and necessary hospital equipment.
  • Parking: Free parking available.
  • Start Date: 08/24/2026.
