Registered Nurse / Emergency Room

Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position in a Level III verified trauma center located in Mount Shasta, California. This role involves providing high-quality emergency care in a critical access hospital setting, working night shifts with a focus on trauma and varied patient populations. The ER nurse will be responsible for managing diverse cases and collaborating with in-house security and unit techs to ensure patient safety and care efficiency.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with every other weekend commitment, and a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC). Valid nursing license to practice in the state of California. Minimum of 2 years ER experience within the last 3 years.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a trauma verification setting and familiarity with Cerner charting system.
• Additional Information:
  • Unit notes include 11 beds and trauma bays.
  • ER manages its own holds with no separate holding area, and nurses manage their own holds.
  • Wide variety of patient diagnoses across all ages.
  • RT performs ABG`s, breathing treatments, and EKGs, operating vents, CPAP, BiPAP, High-flow nasal cannula, and Airvo.
  • RN staff reads strips, no monitor techs.
  • No charge nurse; one House Supervisor present at all times.
  • Phlebotomy performed by RN when starting IVs.
  • The facility prefers float to ICU but it is not required.
  • This is a critical access hospital with capabilities for immediate X-ray and CT imaging.
  • COVID-19 vaccination required as part of onboarding.
  • Shift start date is 08/03/2026.
