Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) located in Marshfield, WI. This position involves providing specialized nursing care within a 28-bed unit that manages neuro, trauma, and orthopedic patients. The RN will deliver patient care primarily during night shifts, focusing on acute and transitional care needs with a variety of medical diagnoses and procedures.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS; two years of experience in Medical-Surgical (MS), Progressive Care Unit (PCU), or Intensive Care Unit (ICU); recent (within the past 12 months) experience in setting; drip medication experience including Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, 3% saline, and Insulin; Wisconsin RN license required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Trachs and Vents, especially home vent experience; open to first-time travelers willing to learn vent management; ability to read telemetry strips; experience with titratable drips.
- Additional Information:
- Unit notes emphasize neuro-focused diagnoses such as strokes, seizures, Guillain-Barre, Myasthenia Gravis, spinal injuries, thrombectomies, and neuro specialties including endovascular procedures.
- Trauma ortho injuries and hematomas are common, with patients presenting with falls on blood thinners, farm accidents, and motor vehicle accidents.
- The unit uses Ventilators, Trachs, Cpap, Bipap, Vapotherm, and Etco2 equipment.
- Self-scheduling available; shifts run from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with rotations every other weekend and holidays.
- Float responsibilities include sister Medical-Surgical units covering various specialties such as cardiac, general, ortho, heme/oncology.
- Orientation comprises one general shift and one with a preceptor.
- All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility.
- The hospital is a Level 2 Trauma Center and employs Cerner charting system.
- Candidates must note if they have previously worked with Marshfield, with end date at least 6 months prior to submission.
