Job Summary
Registered Nurse (RN) for the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) in Anchorage, Alaska. This position involves providing high acuity step-down care in a dedicated unit, with a focus on cardiac and telemetry monitoring. The role requires a strong team-oriented mindset and the ability to adapt quickly to changing patient needs on a busy, fast-paced unit.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Days shift, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license at the time of submission, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), NIH-SS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale), 1 year of step-down ICU, intermediate care, or telemetry experience
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with tracheostomy and long-term ventilator support, titratable drips including dopamine, dobutamine, nitro, cardene, ketamine, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, and experience with CIWA assessments and alcohol/drug withdrawal treatment
  • Unit Details:
    • 19 beds with a team of 7 RNs on each shift
    • Bedside monitors, Alaris IV pumps, heated humidity high flow oxygen, BiPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy, Kangaroo feeding pumps, gastric tubes, and surgical drains
    • EMR: EPICT
  • Shift Information: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM for 13 weeks
  • Additional Information:
    • The role involves emergent cardioversion and procedures requiring moderate sedation, performed in a procedural area
    • Physical assessments, intake, and output must be completed every 4 hours
    • Hourly safety rounds and every two-hour positioning and ADLs as indicated
    • Bedside handoff is mandatory
    • Every other weekend or four weekend shifts per month, with delayed start shifts utilized during low census periods
