Registered Nurse / Medical Surgical Floor

Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical Floor registered nurse position is located in Lynchburg, Virginia. This role involves providing patient care within a general medicine and medical-surgical unit, including responsibilities related to patient assessment, medication administration, and coordination of care. Orientation begins on 08/24/2026, with shifts scheduled for nights. Prior travel experience is required for all central positions, and the unit primarily serves adult patients with diverse medical conditions.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Orientation occurs every other Monday starting on 08/24/2026.
• Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, 2 years of recent Med Surg nursing experience, and 36 months of experience in the specialty. Must be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Preferred Qualifications: Cerner electronic medical record experience is preferred.
• Float: Float rotation is not required.
• Additional Information: Submission of work history with at least 2 years of experience, explanation of employment gaps over 90 days, skills checklist, and a copy of Nursys license is required. Local candidates for Medical Surgical Nursing are accepted. The client requires all RTO (requests for time off) to be submitted in the initial packet; RTO can be canceled up to 36 hours prior due to census fluctuations. This facility is a teaching hospital with frequent interaction with students and new hires, fostering a culture of support and collaboration.
