Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) positions are available in an urban, community-based hospital setting in High Point, North Carolina. The role involves providing high-quality nursing care for patients requiring continuous cardiac, respiratory, and hemodynamic monitoring, including those recovering from cardiac interventions, thoracic surgery, or experiencing respiratory failure. The position offers a dynamic environment focused on patient safety and excellent teamwork.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid North Carolina RN licensure, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification, 1 year of cardiac telemetry or Progressive Care Unit experience, and ability to work in North Carolina.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, arterial lines, titration of drips, chest tube management, and post-procedure care.
- Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Patients with NSTEMI or post-STEMI, cardiac interventions, electrophysiology procedures, thoracic surgery, heart failure, stroke recovery, and respiratory failure requiring ventilatory support.
- Patient Ratios: RN to patient ratio of 1:3 or 1:4 depending on interventions.
- Support within the Department: CNA support, charge nurse, rapid response team, hospitalist coverage, and 24/7 telemetry monitoring.
- Technology/Equipment: EPIC electronic medical records, Baxter IV pumps, Philips Intellivue monitors, arterial lines, in-room monitors, and other unit-specific equipment.
- Orientation: 36 hours of facility and unit-specific training during the first week, including NTO and online Healthstream modules, plus a 12-hour shift with an RN preceptor.
- Float: Float within the critical care division or intermediate care.
