Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse position in Bangor, Maine. This role involves providing comprehensive care for obstetric and postpartum patients in a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Mother-Baby unit. The position requires managing a variety of patient diagnoses and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and efficient labor, delivery, and postpartum services.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights shift operating from 07:00 PM to 07:30 AM, minimum of 48 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) license with BLS, ACLS, NRP, Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring, and MOAB certification. Must have at least 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, with specific skills including titrating Pitocin, fetal monitoring, cervical exams, assisting with epidural placement, and neonatal resuscitation.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cervical ripening, managing insulin and magnesium drips, shoulder dystocia, and neonatal care support such as lactation and skin-to-skin protocols.
- Patient Care Responsibilities: Managing patient ratios for cervical ripening, laboring, active labor, and postpartum, including newborn monitoring if mother remains hospitalized.
- Support Staff & Equipment: Support from a multidisciplinary team including anesthesia, house supervisor, RT, OB provider, family medicine residents, certified midwives, and support staff such as unit secretaries and CSTs. Utilizes Cerner EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and fetal link fetal monitoring system.
- Additional Details: Orientation includes orientation days with HR/Preceptor, OR training, and night shift onboarding. The unit operates with a rotation for weekend shifts, and no call is required but optional. Scrub color is navy, with free on-site parking. Floating to Mother Baby, Antepartum, or Postpartum units may occur.
