Registered Nurse / Emergency Room

Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position located in Bakersfield, California. This role involves providing patient care in a fast-paced emergency department with a diverse patient population, including both adult and pediatric cases. Candidates will deliver high-quality emergency services, including triage, critical care, and trauma management, in accordance with hospital protocols.

Job Details:

• Shift: Rotating, 12-hour shifts, with a start time at 3:00 PM, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications; NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification; minimum of 3 years of ER experience; valid license to practice in California; experience with pediatric and adult emergency patients; proficiency in triage and critical care; experience with electronic medical record systems (Cerner).
• Preferred Qualifications: Significant pediatric ER experience; ability to manage a high volume of patients; experience with crisis intervention and trauma.
• Additional Information: Emergency Department handles approximately 325 visits daily across two ERs, including pediatric and adult trauma bays. The ER has a fast track area, triage zone, and no separate psychiatric or seclusion rooms. Staff may be required to float within the ER, and candidates must be flexible with scheduling, including working weekends and holidays. The department utilizes ER techs and CNAs, with RN oversight in fast track areas. RTs are responsible for ABGs and breathing treatments, and RNs read EKG strips using Phillips telemetry monitors.
