Registered Nurse / Post Anesthesia Care Unit

Job Summary:
A Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) RN position is available in Louisville, Kentucky. This role involves managing post-operative patients in a busy unit with a mix of inpatient and outpatient cases, including trauma and neuro cases. The ideal candidate will have relevant critical care skills and experience in stroke assessment and anesthesia recovery processes.

Job Details:

• Location: Louisville, Kentucky
• Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Start Date: 08/17/2026
• Required Qualifications: Two or more years of PACU experience, licensed in the state, NIHSS certification, ACLS certification, BLS certification, and skills in stroke assessment, EVD, Alines, CT management, medication safety, IV starts, vents, cardiac drips, sedation, pain management
• Preferred Qualifications: Level 1 trauma center experience
• Float: No float rotation required
• Additional Information:
  • The unit has approximately 22-26 beds, with an inpatient and outpatient mix, averaging 50 cases daily.
  • Night shift charge nurses handle patient loads with a close-knit team culture.
  • Orientation includes 2 days of facility and unit-specific training.
  • The unit operates with a variety of support staff including CNAs, phlebotomists, anesthesia, surgery, RT, hospitalists, and intensivists available 24/7.
  • The hospital provides free parking and all scrubs in seal blue and hospital-provided OR blue.
  • Shift rotations include coverage every 3rd weekend, with calls during holidays, and a 6-week schedule cycle planned 4-5 weeks in advance.
  • Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in critical PACU skills such as stroke assessment, EVD, Alines, CT management, medication safety, IV starts, vents, cardiac drips, sedation, and pain management.
