Job Summary:
A registered nurse specializing in Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (CCL) procedures in Charleston, South Carolina. This role involves providing high-quality patient care related to cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures, supporting multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring adherence to clinical standards. The position is suited for an experienced nursing professional committed to patient safety and clinical excellence.
Job Details:
- Performs patient assessments reflecting physical, psychological, socio-cultural, spiritual, cognitive needs and functional abilities through the systematic collection and review of patient-specific data and communicates assessments appropriately.
- Plans and prioritizes care based on the assessment, evaluates patient progress and revises care to attain expected outcomes. Includes patient/family in planning care and evaluating programs and outcomes.
- Demonstrates clinical competencies in the cardiac catheterization laboratory as described in departmental performance standards.
- Assesses patient/family learning needs, plans and provides education (involving other disciplines as needed), and evaluates the effectiveness of teaching in achieving desired outcomes.
- Identifies and responds appropriately to ethical issues in patient care; provides nursing care in a non-judgmental manner that respects patient diversity and acknowledges patient rights; serves as a resource to others in addressing ethical dilemmas in patient care.
- Initiates collaborative dialogue with physicians and coordinates multidisciplinary activities to plan, deliver, and evaluate patient care.
- Acts as a patient advocate, ensuring patient safety and rights are maintained throughout care delivery.
- Provides nursing care in a non-judgmental manner that respects patient diversity and acknowledges patient rights; insures compliance with regulatory requirements, core measures, patient safety, and quality initiatives to achieve optimal clinical and organizational outcomes.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, with call requirements. May be asked to float to cover Cath/EP, and possibly TEE/CV procedures. During TEE/CV coverage, responsibilities include intra-procedure documentation, procedure tracking, and circulating the room for minor tasks, with infrequent coverage expected.
Required Qualifications:
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in South Carolina or holds a current multi-state license recognized by the Nurse Licensure Compact (NCSBN) and not a permanent resident of SC.
- Must have a current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider Card.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- Graduate of an accredited school or college of nursing.
- No minimum years of experience specified but position suitable for entry-level or experienced nurses.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN degree highly desired.
- Experience working in a cardiac catheterization laboratory or related interventional cardiology setting.
- NRP certification to be attained within 6 months of hire and maintained current.
Additional Information:
Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to deliver and evaluate patient care. Ability to apply critical thinking and communicate effectively, especially in emergency situations. Effective documentation skills and the ability to interact appropriately with patients, families, physicians, and staff are essential.
