Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor Registered Nurse (RN) position located in Des Moines, Iowa. The role involves providing patient care for individuals undergoing various surgical procedures, including hip/knee replacements, mastectomies, and abdominal surgeries. The position begins on August 17, 2026 and offers a 12-hour shift schedule with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days, 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week, starting on 08/17/2026.
- Required Qualifications: 24 months of current Medical Surgical (MS) experience in a hospital or medical center setting, including post-operative surgical experience; specific skills listed for Medical Surgical or Medical Surgical/Telemetry disciplines; active Iowa or multistate license required; BLS (American Heart Association) certification required; Driver`s License document required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Highly preferred patient care experience in hip/knee, mastectomies, abdominal surgeries, including Medical Surgical; EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience; references from current or recent supervisors or nurse managers within the past 24 months.
- Float: Float rotation may be required across all campuses, including Iowa Methodist and Iowa Lutheran.
- Additional Information: The unit has an emotional support canine. Orientation is scheduled for 08/17, and staff are required to work 1-2 of the upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day). The unit has a bed size of 30 and a patient nurse ratio of 1:4-5.
