Registered Nurse / Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

Job Summary:
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Nurse in Oakland, California. This position requires providing specialized care for pediatric patients in a Level 1 trauma center with both neuro and cardiac specialties. The role involves night shift coverage, supporting a diverse patient population including neonates, infants, adolescents, and pediatrics, with potential float to other facilities as needed.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Night shift hours; minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid California Registered Nurse license, American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification, a minimum of 5 years of pediatric intensive care experience, PICU experience, and experience charting with Epic.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Pediatric cardiovascular intensive care unit experience.
  • Certifications: BLS, PALS.
  • Skills: End-Tidal Carbon Dioxide monitoring, managing Ports, renal failure management, blood and blood product administration, anti-seizure and anti-arrhythmics medication, arterial line management, intubation assistance, ventilator and BiPAP/CPAP management, central line care, ICP and CVP monitoring, dialysis, sedation, EVD management, fracture care, hemodynamic monitoring, infection control, insulin management, ABG interpretation, PPE protocols, IV vasopressors, chest tube management, dysrhythmia management, NG tube management, pediatric CVICU procedures, dosage calculations, PICC line maintenance, post-surgical care, procedural sedation, tracheostomy care, urinary catheter management, ventilator management, wound assessment, and more.
  • Travel Experience Required: No.
  • Additional Information: Ability to float to other UCSF facilities if needed; orientation hours of 24; patient age groups include neonates, infants, adolescents, and pediatrics; 23 beds in the unit; interdisciplinary support from physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, and unit secretary.
  • Start Date: 08/18/2026.
  • Submittal Requirements: Must include employment history with any university-related medical facilities, two references from the most recent employer, and CA RN license.
