Job Summary
Operating Room Nurse Specialist Open Heart Portsmouth, NH. This role involves working in a cardiovascular operating room environment with a focus on cardiac, vascular, and thoracic procedures. The position requires collaboration within a small, experienced team and offers a dedicated on-call schedule.

Job Details

• Shift: Days, with scheduled hours from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM; additional call and late stays may be required.
• Required Qualifications: Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); valid nursing license must be in hand at the time of submittal; minimum of 2 years experience in a hospital setting; experience with cardiac, vascular, and thoracic procedures.
• Preferred Qualifications: Scrub experience in cardiac and vascular cases; familiarity with Meditech electronic medical records system.
• Unit Description: The unit has 3 beds with 9 staff members, including a charge nurse, registered nurses, scrub technicians, and aides. The team performs procedures such as CABG, valve replacements, TAVR, EVAR, TEVAR, carotid endarterectomy, fistula creation/interventions, VATS, thoracotomy, fem-pop bypass, angiograms with interventions, LVAD, RVAD, and ECMO, covering Level 2 trauma for all vascular and thoracic procedures.
• Schedule: Days, 8 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Additional Information: Call requirements include one weekend per month and 2-3 days per week. The team always includes a backup nurse and additional assistance for on-call coverage, fostering a supportive environment for travelers. The hospital is situated on the seacoast of New Hampshire, approximately one hour north of Boston and one and a half hours south of the White Mountains.
