Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position is available in a Level III non-profit community hospital located in Yakima, Washington. This role involves providing high-quality emergency care in a busy and diverse environment, handling a wide range of patient cases from neonates to geriatrics at a Level III trauma center. The ER unit is known for its fast-paced setting and high patient acuity, offering an opportunity to utilize advanced clinical skills and contribute to life-saving interventions.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Days shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS or ENPC, TNCC certifications; minimum 3 years of experience in a large-volume emergency department with high acuity patients; experience with barcode scanning for medication administration, managing medication drips, blood product administration, triage, chest tube setup, arterial lines, trauma and code assistance, splinting, BiPAP/ventilation, and a good understanding of ESI; pediatric emergency medicine experience is highly preferred; experience with Point of Care Labs is a plus; ability to pass hospital triage test before triage duties.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Pediatric emergency medicine experience, Point of Care Labs familiarity
  • Patient Types: Neonate to geriatric, including level III trauma patients, stroke management (administration of TNK), cardiac cases (cath lab), behavioral health, substance use disorder, and high-acuity pediatric patients; transfer out capabilities for neurosurgery and multi-system trauma cases.
  • Patient Ratios: 1:3-5 based on acuity; ER organized in zones with a dedicated fast track (13 beds, green zone).
  • EMR: Epic (required)
  • Floating: No floating required
  • Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend, with occasional back-to-back weekends for flexibility
  • On Call: No
  • Shift Times: Multiple options including days (7a-7p, 9a-9p), mids (10a-10p, 11a-11p, 12p-12a, 1p-1a, 2p-2a), evenings (3p-3a), and nights (7p-7a)
