Registered Nurse / Labor And Delivery Department

Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Department nurse position available in Alexandria, Louisiana. This role involves providing specialized obstetric care within a busy obstetrics and gynecology unit, supporting both labor and postpartum patients. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focused on maternal and neonatal health.

Job Details:

• Location: 211 4TH ST, Alexandria, LA 71301
• Shift: Nights (12-hour shifts)
• Schedule: Night shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification, current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN), minimum of 1 year of obstetric nursing experience, Louisiana state license preferred
• Preferred Qualifications: Ability to scrub, proficiency in starting IVs and drawing labs, interpret fetal strips, understanding of obstetric procedures such as vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, amniocentesis, amnioinfusions, IUPC/FSE placement, and ability to work in a closed unit C/L to postpartum setting
• Responsibilities: Assisting with labor and delivery procedures, monitoring fetal and maternal status, responding to obstetric emergencies, following unit guidelines and policies, participating in weekend rotations and on-call duties as required
• Additional Information: Unit equipped with fetal monitors, intrauterine pressure catheters, fetal scalp electrodes, fluid warmers, IV pumps, epidural pumps, electronic medical records with CPN and Meditech systems
