Registered Nurse / Emergency Room

Job Summary:
The Emergency Room (ER) nursing position is based in Alexandria, Virginia. This role involves providing urgent care services in a high-volume community ER and stroke center, with a focus on managing a diverse patient population including adults and pediatrics. The position requires robust clinical skills, efficient team collaboration, and adaptability to a busy emergency care environment.

Job Details:

• Location: Alexandria, Virginia
• Shift: Nights, 8 hours per shift
• Schedule: 40 hours per week, 1p-1a shift
• Required Qualifications: Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association; 2+ years of ER nursing experience; current unrestricted nursing license in Virginia.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a community ER or stroke center; ability to handle a high patient volume with quick decision-making skills.
• Additional Information: The ER staff typically manages 4:1 patient ratios, stretching to 5:1 during peak census times. Staff are expected to work 5-6 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule and participate in holiday rotations, including one major and one minor holiday per season. No on-call duties are required, but staff may opt to pick up additional shifts. The ER handles a variety of clinical cases, including stroke and trauma, in a fast-paced setting.
