Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurse position is located in Marion, Illinois. This contract opportunity lasts for 13 weeks and requires a dedicated healthcare professional to work night shifts. The role involves providing critical and step-down care for a diverse patient population, with a focus on neuro assessments, ventilator management, and sepsis protocols. The position offers the chance to join a supportive team and contribute to patient recovery in a dynamic clinical environment.
Job Details:
- Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Illinois license; American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS); AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); at least 2 years of ICU experience, preferably 3; minimum of 1 travel assignment; skills in NIHSS, dysphagia screening, neuro assessment, tele/EKG interpretation (exam required), ETT/vent management (RT available), initiation/titration of sedatives, paralytics, cardiac drips, vasoactive medications, insulin; sepsis protocols; post ROSC therapeutic hypothermia protocols; social and resilient candidate with strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Preferred Qualifications: tPA administration/assessments; massive transfusion experience.
- Float: Float rotation may be required to step-down level care.
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 08/24/2026.
- Additional Information: Unit features 18 beds with a patient mix of ICU and step-down care; ratios are 2:1 for ICU and 3:1 for step-down. The charge nurse does take patients. The unit has a stable core staff, and the position is in high demand to support increased volume. Successful candidates should be hard workers, resilient, able to manage change, and social.
