Registered Nurse / Intensive Care Unit Neurological

Job Summary:
This Intensive Care Unit Neurological (ICU Neuro) registered nurse position is located in Wausau, Wisconsin. The role involves providing specialized care within a neuro-focused intensive care environment, supporting patients with stroke, traumatic brain injury, head injuries, and neurosurgical conditions. The assignment is scheduled for 7 weeks starting on October 5, 2026, with a focus on delivering high-quality critical care to neuro patients during daytime shifts.

Job Details:

• Location: 333 PINE RIDGE BOULEVARD, WAUSAU, WI 54401
• Shift: 12-hour days
• Schedule: Days; minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: WI RN License, BLS and ACLS (AHA or ARC), NIHSS certification, a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, with at least one travel assignment preferred. Experience in Med/Surg ICU and/or Neuro ICU with strong assessment skills in neuro conditions required. EPIC charting experience necessary.
• Specialized Experience and Skills: Neuro assessments, bedside ICU procedures (e.g., line placement, intubation), bolt and drain bedside placements, familiarity with EVDs and ICP monitoring, experience as a Neuro Interventionalist is a plus. Candidates must be resilient, able to manage change, and work independently.
• Float: Float rotation may be required between Neuro Critical Care ICU and Medical/Surgical ICU units, with potential to float to other inpatient units as needed.
• Additional Information: Experience with neuro-specific procedures and a strong work ethic are essential. The position includes holiday rotations every other holiday and shifts during flu season require mask-wearing for unvaccinated staff per policy.
