Registered Nurse / Medical Surgical Floor

Job Summary:
The healthcare organization is seeking a Medical Surgical (MS) registered nurse for a trauma care center located in Evansville, Indiana. This full-time night position involves providing specialized care to a diverse patient population in a 44-bed unit, with a focus on trauma, orthopedic, and neuro conditions. The role requires strong assessment skills, critical thinking, and the ability to manage a variety of clinical situations.

Job Details:

• Location: Evansville, Indiana
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Active compact registered nurse license, AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), NIHSS certification, at least 2 years of nursing experience including one full year in orthopedic, neuro, or trauma units, recent Epic charting experience, minimum of one travel assignment, trauma level II experience, and strong neuro assessment skills.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with chest tube and indwelling drain management, IV drips (heparin, Lasix, Protonix), epidural management, PEGs/NGs, Buck`s traction, pin site care, On-Q management, CIWA/BH, wound care including packing and wound vacs.
• Additional Information: The unit operates with a staff-to-patient ratio of 1:3-5 during day shifts and 1:4-7 during night shifts. Cross-campus float may be required with advance notice. The facility values its travelers and encourages team engagement. High standards are maintained, with a maximum of three call-ins, leading to termination if exceeded.
