Registered Nurse / Emergency Room

Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position available in Artesia, New Mexico. This role involves providing acute care for a diverse patient population with conditions ranging from minor injuries to critical traumas, STEMIs, and strokes. The facility is working towards Trauma Level IV designation and operates a busy ER with an average of 40 to 50 patients treated daily.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Valid BLS, ACLS, PALS, Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications; specialized experience with 5 years in Emergency Department (ED) nursing; ability to manage and titrate critical drips including Amio, Cardizem, Epi, Insulin; must be able to critically think and work independently; experience with trauma level 1 & 2 EDs is acceptable; first-time travelers are encouraged to apply.
• Additional Information: The ER handles a wide spectrum of cases and is equipped with 24/7 X-ray and CT imaging, mobile ultrasound, MRI capabilities, and portable equipment. RNs are expected to interpret tele and EKG strips and manage respiratory equipment and treatments. Phlebotomy services are available; RNs may draw labs as needed. The facility requires a brief orientation period of 1-2 days with a preceptor, depending on needs. No in-house RT services after hours, but designated RT staff oversees hospital during night shifts. The ER maintains a calm and efficient environment with a patient ratio of 1:3, and staff are expected to be flexible with scheduling, including every other weekend and possibly working holidays.
