Registered Nurse / Operating Room Open Heart

Job Summary:
The operating room (OR) open heart specialist position is based in Cypress, Texas. This role involves providing advanced surgical care for cardiovascular procedures within a busy surgical department. The successful candidate will operate in a dynamic environment that requires technical skill, teamwork, and adaptability.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Days shift with 8 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid registered nurse license, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support). Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience, including CV (cardiovascular) and robotic case experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with endovascular experience and moderate sedation skills will be considered first. Experience performing procedures such as CABG with or without valves, ECMO, convergent maze, Impella balloon pump, fistula creation, bypass, endarterectomy carotid or femoral, VATs (robotic, laparoscopic, or open), robotic esophagectomy, BKA or AKA, temporal artery bypass, thrombectomy/embolectomy, and peritoneal dialysis catheter insertion/removal is preferred.
• Float: Will work exclusively in the surgery department; case load varies. Staff must be able to handle general, orthopedic, ENT, gynecology, podiatry, urology, plastic, pain, or eye procedures.
• Dress Code: Scrub attire in navy blue for registered nurses.
• Unit Guidelines/Policies: Attendees are expected to follow unit policies on count procedures, attendance, and call policies. Call responsibilities include weekday calls that start after shift hours and extend to the next morning at 7 am, with occasional weekend calls. Typically, one weekday call and one weekend call per month are required.
