Ophthalmology / Ophthalmology Technician

Job Summary:
The organization is seeking an Ophthalmology Technician placement in Boston, Massachusetts. This role involves preparing patients for evaluation by ophthalmologists or optometrists, conducting preliminary eye function testing, managing patient flow, and maintaining equipment to ensure efficient clinical operations.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Days shift, 8 hours shift, minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: GED or high school diploma; certification as COA, COT, or COMT by JCAHPO; minimum of 1 year of experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Vocational or technical training in an accredited program.
• Responsibilities: Escorting patients to exam rooms, taking patient histories focusing on eye symptoms, reviewing allergies and medications, performing visual acuity tests, using tonopens and applanation tonometry to measure intraocular pressure, administering eye drops, performing visual fields, ultrasonography, autorefraction, optical coherence tomography, fundus photography, lensometry, and topography. Monitoring provider schedules and patient flow, maintaining exam rooms and equipment, cleaning and repairing equipment, training on new tasks, and participating in continuing education.
