Registered Nurse / Step Down Unit

Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Step Down Unit, located in the St. Louis, MO area. The position involves providing direct patient care in a surgical step-down setting, utilizing critical thinking and clinical skills to monitor and evaluate patient conditions. This 13-week assignment offers flexible scheduling with night shifts and is designed for experienced nurses committed to delivering quality care.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night shift, 1900-0730, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Current RN license capable of licensure in Missouri, BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA, at least 2 years of step down or ICU experience, proficiency in post-op care, Bipap, cardiac gtt, time management, and critical thinking skills.
• Preferred Qualifications: None specified
• Float: Float rotation may be required to departments with acuity equal to or lower than the primary unit.
• Additional Information: Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care, maintains professional accountability and confidentiality, and evaluates the effectiveness of care provided. Provides care for patients post trauma, surgical interventions, and with medical comorbidities, coordinating with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, within scope of practice and under established guidelines. Works in a high-risk environment with exposure to blood and body fluids, requiring physical demands such as lifting up to 50 lbs. and significant mobility activities.
