Registered Nurse / Medical Surgical Floor

Job Summary:
This Medical Surgical (MS) nurse position is located in Carroll, Iowa. The role involves providing care on a 19-bed unit with the capability to overflow onto the Critical Care Unit (CCU) side. The unit primarily handles a variety of diagnoses including congestive heart failure, pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, sepsis, and various surgical recoveries for both adult and pediatric patients. The position requires adherence to established standards of care within a dynamic, fast-paced hospital environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts start at 7:00 AM with two 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute lunch; 36 hours minimum per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice as a registered nurse, ACLS certification from the American Heart Association, BLS certification from the American Heart Association, PALS certification from the American Heart Association, minimum of 3 years of Med/Surg/Pediatric experience and 1 year of travel nursing experience required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience interpreting telemetry monitored patient data, cross-training in behavioral health and emergency room settings preferred.
- Float: Float rotation may be required; ability to float to the critical care unit or obstetrics as needed.
- Additional Information:
- Shift includes every third weekend, with potential flexibility.
- Holiday coverage required during seasonal peaks.
- Orientation consists of one 12-hour shift.
- Use of physical keys to access medication drawers, to be returned at shift end.
- Emphasis on understanding unit quality initiatives and contributing to a positive work culture.
- Willingness to wait for license submission, with no specified start date flexibility.
