Registered Nurse / Medical Surgical Float Position

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical Float Nurse position is based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The registered nurse will provide patient care in a Medical Surgical unit, demonstrating clinical expertise to support patient recovery and well-being. The role involves coordinating and implementing individualized care plans, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, and collaborating effectively with healthcare team members.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights shift from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Current New Mexico registered nurse license or current Compact state license; BLS certification via American Heart Association; ACLS certification via American Heart Association; 3 years of experience in medical surgical nursing; ability to work night shifts.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in floating within a medical surgical unit; familiarity with electronic medical records.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required.
  • Additional Information: The registered nurse will be responsible for obtaining and recording initial assessments, developing individualized plans of care, performing point-of-care testing procedures, and participating in patient and family education, discharge planning, and unit growth initiatives. The RN must demonstrate effective communication, teamwork, and professional accountability in a fast-paced clinical environment.
