Job Summary
The Telemetry Medical Surgical Float Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in Garden City, Kansas. This role involves working in a fast-paced acute care environment, providing specialized patient care across multiple units including Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Orthopedics, Trauma, and Emergency Department Observation. The ideal candidate will possess at least two years of recent telemetary experience and be flexible to float within Zone 4, covering various specialties.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Days shift, 11.5 hours per shift, minimum of 34.5 hours per week. Schedules are released 4 to 6 weeks in advance and may follow either a single facility schedule or a Just-In-Time (JIT) float model.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid licensing to submit, BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) from the American Heart Association, NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification, and a minimum of 2 years of recent telemetry experience within the last 3 years.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Prior neuro experience, familiarity with Alaris infusion pumps, and experience with EPIC electronic health record system.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required within Zone 4, encompassing multiple facilities around Garden City, KS, including Ulysses, KS, and Dodge City, KS. Travelers are responsible for arranging housing within the zone to accommodate floating needs.
  • Additional Information: Units include General Medical-Surgical and specialities such as Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Renal, Urology, Gynecology, Psych/Detox, ENT, and more. The patient population primarily consists of adults, geriatrics, and long-term placement patients. Nurses may be asked to work weekends (6-9 shifts in a 6-week schedule) and could be included in holiday rotations. Staffing may involve occasional call or standby, with assignments communicated via text or daily sheets. The unit includes telemonitor techs, nurse aides, and equipment such as vents, Cpap, and BiPap.
