Operating Room Tech / Certified First Surgical Assistant

Job Summary:
The healthcare provider is seeking a Certified First Surgical Assistant in the Open Heart Surgery specialty at a regional trauma level one facility located in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. The position involves providing first assisting support for open heart procedures within the main operating room. The role requires collaboration within a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a high-acuity environment.

Job Details:

• Location: 1086 Franklin Street, Johnstown, PA 15905
• Role: First Assistant in Cardiothoracic and Open Heart Surgery
• Specialty: Certified First Surgical Assistant
• Shift: Days, Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours
• Start Date: 09/07/2026
• Required Qualifications: No minimum experience required
• Preferred Qualifications: 2+ years scrubbing and first assisting in open hearts (coronary artery bypass grafts on and off pump, robotic and laparoscopic lungs)
• Additional Notes: Must have experience in cardiothoracic surgery, including CABG procedures. Must have completed all necessary clearances prior to start, including Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, FBI Department of Aging Fingerprinting, and PATCH Pennsylvania State Police Clearance.
• Float: Float to main operating room when no cardiothoracic cases are scheduled.
• Position Status: Replacement of permanent staff
