Job Summary:
Telemetry Nurse in Phoenix, Arizona. The position involves working on a Med/Surg/Telemetry unit that specializes in patients with mental health conditions. The role requires providing care for patients with secondary psychiatric diagnoses, including confused patients and those with dementia, with a focus on safety and clinical skills in a fast-paced environment.
Job Details:
- Shift: Night shifts (12 hours) with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Start Date: 08/31/2026.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support); minimum of 2 years of related experience required.
- Experience: 2 years of Med/Surg/Telemetry experience preferred; psychiatric experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with four weekend shifts every three weeks, holidays on a rotating basis.
- Additional Requirements: Must have valid license to submit; willing to wait for licensing; need Med/Surg/Telemetry RN experience; preferred psychiatric background.
- Unit Information: A telemetry unit with a patient capacity of 14 beds, staffed with behavioral health technicians, security via video monitoring, and a psychiatric physician on site.
- Patient Population: Confused patients, with secondary mental health diagnoses, including dementia. Physical restraints are rarely used, with chemical restraints being more common. All procedures are video-monitored.
- Training & Orientation: Floor-specific orientation consisting of two shifts. Mandatory skills include sterile field procedures, lifts, restraints, and wound care, with simulation labs for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.
- Floating: Possible float to emergency psychiatric holds or medical-surgical floors.
- Facility Information: Inpatient mental health care setting with an emphasis on patient safety and clinical competency.
- Additional Notes: No vents; no hospitalist or intensivist on site; in-house psychiatric medical team.
- Shift Specifics: Night shifts, with a four-shift weekend commitment every three weeks; holidays assigned via unit rotation; navy scrub uniform, panic buttons available, telehealth capabilities, and no in-house ventilator management.
