Registered Nurse / Operating Room Open Heart

Job Summary:
Operating Room Open Heart Nurse in Palo Alto, CA. This role involves providing specialized bedside care for patients undergoing open heart procedures within an accredited healthcare facility. The nurse will collaborate with surgical teams to deliver evidence-based, family-centered care during perioperative processes, ensuring patient safety and optimal recovery outcomes.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Rotating shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: CA-Registered Nurse (RN) license, current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers, at least 1 year of experience working in an Operating Room with open heart procedures, bachelor`s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in open heart surgery, familiarity with perioperative protocols for cardiac procedures, advanced certifications such as Cardiac Surgery Certification or CNOR (Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse).
• Additional Information: The nurse will be responsible for assessing patient status before, during, and after surgery, implementing sterile techniques, assisting during surgical procedures, and providing post-operative care and education. The role requires rapid assessment skills, crisis response, and adherence to hospital safety and infection control standards. The position involves active participation in unit programs, continuous learning to maintain current clinical competence, and proactive communication with the healthcare team.
